Savannah Coastal Parent launched as a bi-monthly tabloid in May 2003 and became monthly a year later. Its 19,000 circulation is free, with 8,100 of those copies being mailed to homeowners with children in Chatham, Bryan, Liberty and Effingham counties in Georgia and Beaufort County in South Carolina. More than 1,300 copies are sent to Chatham County, Ga., public and private schools for teachers and administrators. The balance of the distribution is handled through retail locations, medical and dental offices and other family-friendly venues.

Monthly features are related to parenting, youth health and fitness, family lifestyles and community events of an interest to parents with children. Selected community leaders in the fields of education, health and mental health, and specialty areas are called upon to contribute in each edition.
