Nondaily Newspapers

Morris' award-winning weekly newspapers strive for excellence while focusing on in-depth local and community coverage.

The company's first significant foray into nondaily newspapers came with the 1995 purchase of Stauffer Communications, which included several nondailies. Later Morris augmented this with such purchases as The Girard (Kansas) Press in 2003 and the Capital City Weekly in Alaska in 2004.

In 2006, Morris added four newspapers to its growing list of nondailies: The (Barnwell, S.C.) People-Sentinel, The Hampton County (S.C.) Guardian, The (Edgefield, S.C.) Citizen News and the Sylvania (Ga.) Telephone.

Morris Communications also owns the nondaily the Alaska Star which is part of the Alaska Publications group, but is not part of Morris Publishing Group.
